Hi, I'm Laura!

 

Finding the right therapist for you is an imperative and sometimes daunting task. To help you make this important decision, let me tell you a bit about myself. I have always enjoyed connecting with others, and have worked in the social work field for the past 15 years. My approach to therapy is non-judgmental, honest, and may even include a sarcastic joke. I have found that humour can be an excellent catalyst to healing and connection.  

 

I have worked with individuals and groups struggling with a variety of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, and trauma. I’ve worked with people from all walks of life, including Indigenous and 2SLGBTQ+ populations. While I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), I value seeing each person I work with as an individual with their own unique needs. We will collaborate in creating a treatment that is specific to you. 

 

My favourite moments in therapy are the “lightbulb” moments when people learn more about their thoughts and behaviours or are able to apply skills learned in session to facilitate change. Change can be difficult; but so can staying the same. 

Whether you’re ready to process things that have happened, learn new skills, or are just looking for somewhere to vent with an impartial person listening, therapy may be a good opportunity for you.
